馃搩 C U R A T O R

Hello! I am Rajae, the curator of this week!

Just click here to see our references' mind map.

馃摉 T R A N S L A T O R

Hello everyone! 馃憢馃徑 I'm M陋Angela, here I am again to show you along with my classmates the work of this week. This time I will play the role of translator, for this I will define in a more understandable way the fundamental words so that you can easily understand our work. I am sure you will understand it perfectly!

✔️ Effective teacher:To be an effective teacher is to transmit to the students the contents established by the most advanced technology, in a pedagogical way.
A teacher should always be up to date on technology, since not teaching through technology would be to stay behind in time, and not to teach through it would be to not teach students the many opportunities to learn that there is today.
An effective teacher should always teach their students the established contents, since these have been established by a professional for all students of the same course equally.
An effective teacher should know how to teach his students and know the way in which they learn, treating them with love and understanding

✔️ Knowledge: It consists of understanding and assimilating information about an issue that is obtained through study. The knowledge transmitted by the teacher has been previously established in the curriculum. These contents will be the same for all the students of the same course.
Knowledge can not only be acquired through study, but can be acquired through other experiences such as reading or practice.

✔️Technological knowledge:To transmit knowledge in a technological way is to use the latest technologies in the field of education. Not using these technologies would be behind in technology and consequently would be behind in society.Technology is not a fixed knowledge, it is variable, therefore Teachers must adapt to the continuous changes and to what society offers, in order to be able to provide the knowledge to their students in an effective way.

✔️Pedagogical knowledge: To teach in a pedagogical way is to transmit knowledge, but also to transmit values. Teachers should know: how to treat their students, how they learn, and how to plan and asses. Pedagogical knowledge Includes the way to teach, to transmit their values. Establish objectives, goals and methodologies.

✔️Content knowledge: It is the information that will be taught by the teacher. Includes knowledge of concepts, theories, tests, and established practices, among others.
All components of the same course will study the same contents. These contents are fixed in the curriculum. The teacher must follow the curriculum so that their students learn the contents, although the teachers are guided by different methodologies, the students must learn the same contents.

I hope these definitions help you to understand our work better. See you next week architeachers!

馃搱 A N A L Y S T

Hi workers! 馃憢馃敤 I am Carmen D铆az 馃懛  and this week I am in charge of the analyst role. I really like this role because I can evaluate my group members, and I think is a reflexive role which makes you think deeply. Is really useful in order to see what have we learned and what things we, as a group, are doing well or not.

  • The best part of the activity, as always, was to stay Tuesday in University until afternoon, making our spidergram mind map. We already had a draft of what we wanted to make, and of course all of our materials were prepared. We had fun preparing our exposition and sharing ideas about the project. All of my group members have really good ideas, too many to be honest !
  •  The worst part was to choose a good idea for our exposition, because we wanted to be original but we did not want to last a year with the project, so we change our exposition ideas like three times.馃槄
  • The best moment of the week was on Wednesday when we finished our exposition, because we did a good job all together, and we were worried about our stars (hoping that they did not get nervous), but they did a really good presentation!! So on Wednesday we released pressure. 馃榿
  • We did not have a worst moment of the week, because our group works really good, and we know each other so we do not have any problems, we talk constantly by WhatsApp, so the worst part, to say one, was to decide, as I already said before.
  • We have learned this reference model, with the acronym of TPACK, which we did not know before this class.
We already knew which steps to follow to be an effective teacher, as we learned this in the Planning subject. However, we did not know that each of this three components of TPACK, (technological knowledge, pedagogical knowledge and content knowledge) were related one to another and that we need to master the three of them and know how to use them correctly and jointly.

This is very important for us and for our future students because we could say that the future depends on teachers, we are the ones that are going to show children how to develop and empower their intelligence and skills, how to study, how to learn and react to different situations.

We need to teach them how to adapt to the continuous changing environment, and therefore we need to adapt ourselves. With this I mean that we need to learn new things every day, we need to improve, to dominate new technologies, to know how to master our class, to teach children in a correct way that they will learn, to know how to react to different kinds of problems or students with different problems, to innovate, to stay curious...

Therefore, TPACK is really important for us and our degree, we need this in order to be effective. We will need to master the three components and its combinations, because if not we will not be effective, and we want children to learn and feel productive, not to learn things by heart and forget them next day! Learning can also be fun! 馃摎馃捇馃捁馃摶馃敪馃敩馃帀馃巿
  •  As a group we need to conserve our perseverance, our enthusiasm, our positivism, our hard working and our helping manners, because we tend to do the whole work (and roles) as a group, so we help each other. And of course, our good vibes! 馃挭
  •  Personally, there is nothing we need to improve (as a group). Obviously we need to maintain this relationship, and we need to keep working hard.
  •  TPACK is related to other contents in our course and degree in many ways. As I said before we already know the steps to be an effective teacher, and we know the theoretical part, so we need to put this into practice.
 -  In Developmental Psychology we learned that everyone has a different temperament, different abilities and skills, so we are all different in nearly all ways. Moreover, culture, socioeconomic background, family and cohorts are really important too, so we need to take this into account.
With this subject we learned that we must be aware of every differences that children might have, so we can not treat everyone as a whole, we must know how to teach them in the right way, how to treat them individually, and how we can help them to integrate and make them feel one more. So, we can link pedagogical knowledge with this subject.

- In Educational Planning we also learned lots of things related to TPACK. We learned how to be an effective teacher, how to plan our subject, how to organize ourselves, active methods to teach children, and so on. Educational Planning is link with the Content Knowledge of TPACK. We need to master our subject before teaching it, we need to know what is important and what is useful. We need to show them how to study and how to learn.

- In Tutorial Action we are learning that every child is different, they have special needs and therefore they need different treats. We also need to know how to transmit them information and to integrate them. So, we relate this subject with the Pedagogical Knowledge too.

- In Educational Research we are learning to investigate, which is related to Technological Knowledge, due to internet usage.

- Additionally we are going to study ICT, in this subject our teacher will show us how to manage different technologies. We can link this subject to Technological Knowledge too.

  • There is evident social connection with TPACK, we can see it in news, when they talk about incorporating new technologies (like tablets) to the classroom. This new methods are necessary because nowadays technology is everywhere! So teachers need to show their students how to use different technologies, and how this can be very useful for them as students and for them as social beings. By using new technologies they gain more interest, as they, sometimes, prefer active methodologies and different methods than the traditional ones.

To conclude my reflection, I will include the Twitter hashtag 馃惁 #WMCY17, which means World Mobile City Project. Students from secondary needed to travel through their city, (most of the tweets were in Catalan), combining traditional methods (as maps), and the use of new technologies 馃摫馃摲, in groups.
This is a recent social connection with TPACK ! 馃巼馃巻

TASK 2:  TPACK

Hello Archilearners!!
This week our task was to learn about the concept of TPACK

TPACK is a work model to improve effective teaching used to help teachers, it is composed of three elements.

This are the essential elements of TPACK
  • TECHNOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE: There is not a fixed definition for this term due to the fact that it is continuously changing. Technology allows teachers to use this in a productive and dynamic way of working. Nevertheless, it depends on social and institutional context because if they do not know how to use the different types of technology they cannot teach in this way.

  • PEDAGOGICAL KNOWLEDGE: It is the knowledge teachers have about how to treat their students, how they learn, how to plan and asses. It includes their values, objectives, aims and  methodology.

  • CONTENT KNOWLEDGE: It is the information about a component which will be taught by the professor. It includes knowledge of concepts, theories, proof, and  established practices, among others.

This three content are not independent . They depend of each other.

Now we are going to explain the relationship between them!!

  • TECHNOLOGICAL CONTENT KNOWLEDGE: According to the influence between them, teachers need to control the subject matter they teach and how to teach that matter with the application of particular technologies. A cycle is formed. Depending on the subject one technology or another will be used. For example: when professors teach languages, Word program can be used; when they teach Mathematics, Excel program can be used.

  • PEDAGOGICAL CONTENT KNOWLEDGE: It is how the teacher adapts the matter of the subject to teach, according to the necessities of each student. It includes the links among curriculum, assessment and pedagogy.

  • TECHNOLOGICAL PEDAGOGICAL  KNOWLEDGE: It is the consequence of using the technology in the teaching and learning process. This includes the control of technological tools.

To sum up TPACK  is a concept about how technology affects school and the best way to teach students with technological methods according to their necessities.
Teachers have to take into account the context in which they are teaching, because it influences the type of technology they have access to, the type of students and the methodology used to teach them, the content and the pedagogy. It is not the same to teach in a low SES school than in a higher one, because the access to electronic devices, the lifestyle of the students, the parenting style are different.
In our poster we have represented the TPACK in the thoughts of Manolo (our pet, who symbolizes an effective teacher). We have selected a Spidergram to show what a TPACK is, due to we wanted to focus the attention on the concept of TPACK placing it in the centre of our poster and connecting it with the main ideas.
The pieces of the jigsaw puzzle are not connected because the knowledge is something that a teacher has to keep improving day by day.
The elements (T, Pa, C, K) are connected by wires with the main ideas due to the fact that nowadays technology connects everything.
As future teachers TPACK is very useful to us because it tell us how to be an effective teacher.
We will have to transmit the student the concepts, so first we have to command the subject. Then we will have to plan a good methodology according to our students to be able to transmit them the knowledge. And won´t let a single student left behind. Moreover teachers have to find the right  technology to transmit it.

In our degree we have specific subjects to help us in building our TPACK model. We improve our Technological Knowledge in subjects as Research and ICT or School Organization and Educational Resources. They also grow our Technological Pedagogical Knowledge and our Technological Content knowledge. In subjects as Tutorial Action, Psychology and Planification we improve our Pedagogical Knowledge and our Pedagogical Content Knowledge. The Content Knowledge is worked in the Didactics subjects, this year we have Spanish and English Didactics and next year we are going to study Maths and Social Sciences. The main purpose of our degree is to teach us how to be effective teachers, that is the reason why we grow our TPACK with every assignment.
From our point of view, TPACK is really important, but it doesn´t include the personal relationship between the teachers and families, students and peers. Teachers have to create a good environment for the students, they have to be in touch with parents to cooperate to help the children and they have to have a good relationship with other teachers.

We think that TPACK is not enough because the teacher must be actualized to the new models for an effective teaching, due to the fact that in few year this model will be antiquated. So, in a short term, it is enough to understand the work of a teacher but in a long term, it is not.

We hope that now you Know exactly what a TPACK is!!
See you next week with our next task!
Have a nice week 馃懛馃敤

馃専 S T A R

Hello everyone, I am M陋 脕ngeles Alonso, and this week I have been one of the two stars of the group

This has been my first time as a star so, at first I was a little nervous.

Dolores and I decided to explain our mural in an interactive way in order to make it more enjoyable to our listener so, we decided to ask questions one to the another for explaining the TPACK model. This was one of the most things that the other groups appreciated and enjoyed of our presentation.

We had to explain the presentation ten times so, at first I was a little nervous. Although, all the groups said good points to us so at the end I explained the presentation in a natural way.

I would like to have been able to see the presentation of the rest of my classmates at the end of the class, but because of the time I couldn't.

Hello 馃檵

I am Dolores and I am the other star 馃専 of this week!!

When I knew that was going to be the star I was really excited because in the last term we didn't have many chances of showing our work to the rest of the class.
I have felt very comfortable being the star, because as we were two it was easier to explain everything. At first I was a little nervous, but as the first exposition was to the members of my group, I could practise and relax.
We tried to make it clear and enjoyable since our main purpose was to transmit them the concept of TPACK in a entertaining way. We didn't want to see boring faces 馃槈
From my point of view we did it very well and we had  positive feedback from our colleagues.
M陋 脕ngeles and I have made a  good team in this task!!

I am willing to repeat this experience and to be the star again ☆
See you soon!!
Have a nice week 馃懛馃敤

馃摲 J O U R N A L I S T

Hi, everyone!!馃檵
My name is Carmen Albaladejo and this week I am the journalist of ArchiTeachers.

It is Friday and the second task has been uploaded, so now it is time to start working on it. Last week, we decided that once the task was uploaded we will start thinking on possible ways to solve it during the weekend and then on Monday we will do a brainstorm to decide how we are going to carry out this task.

So, Monday morning arrived, it was the moment to change the roles. In order to distribute roles we decided to write them in little papers, put them in a small backet and one by one, we took one of them. This task needed the partcipation of TWO STARS 馃専馃専but we were only six in the team so we decided that one of us has to have two roles.Dolores was lucky, she was the curator and also the star馃憦馃憦馃憦. Congratulations and GOOD LUCK !!

But our plan changed, now we were seven in the team. We want to introduce you the seventh ArchiTeacher 馃懛, her name is Rajae and she  is the curator 馃搩during this week instead of Dolores. Once all this was solved, we focused our attention on the task, it was about TPACK and maybe you will be wondering "What TPACK is?" but if you want to know more information about this topic then you will have to visit our post called "THE TASK".

Firstly, we gathered all the information that we have found about what is TPACK, the elements that compose it, how these elements were related among them... Once the information was collected and we did a brainstorm with all our ideas. At the beginning, we were too much creative and enthusiastic, we wanted to create a miniature of a head and inside it we wanted to put three little people representing the three main components of the TPACK, based on the film " Inside Out". Then, we also wanted to use our pet "Manolo" and put him in the middle of a Spidergram but we realized that it was not the main purpose of this task because we had to focus our attention on TPACK.

Last week, we decided that every Tuesday we will stay at the University in the afternoon in order  to prepare Wednesday´s presentation. Once we finished the classes at half past one, we all together went to have lunch and after we starting preparing the task.

To prepare the task we decided to distribute the work among us, some of us were in charge of preparing the paper of the stars, while the rest of us were making the poster. As we were going deep into the project some new ideas were appearing and we determined to add some of them, such as doing a cloud sourrounding the idea of TPACK or the idea of adding our pet "Manolo" to the poster representing an effective teacher.

Finally the day arrived, it was Wednesday at half past ten, all was ready so it was the moment of our stars GOOD LUCK GIRLS!!馃槈馃槈 While Dolores and Mar铆a Angeles were explaning our work to rest of the groups, we were changing from one group to another and listening their explanations. At the end we were really surprised because all groups have done a great work. Here you can see the different presentations.

In this week we want to recommend you a fantastic blog which focus its attention on TIC. Here I put its URL: http://canaltic.com/blog/?p=1677#comment-284634

馃搨 F A C I L I T A T O R

Hey guys, I'm Maria del Mar Fern谩ndez Rodr铆guez and this week I will be the facilitator.
Firstly, welcome again to our blog!. This week we have to work on the TPACK model, so the whole class had to make a poster. Meanwhile the two stars were explaining our poster to the visitors, the rest of the team gave feedbacks to the rest of the groups after their exposition.

The first group we visited was the Superstar Teachers. Cristina and Paula explained to us TPACK with a diagram. After that, we had to give them some feedbacks, let's start:

  • What did we like the most? From this group, we loved the type of poster they had choosen and the way of expressing all the concepts needed, as they used many images to illustrate their ideas for our better understanding.
  • Advise: From our point of view and despite they were a bit nervous, we considered a good idea to stablish a kind of interaction when they have to talk to make the presentation a bit more pleasant and, in the case of one of the star, we recommended her not to be distract when the other person is talking.
  • Our poster and theirs were similar but not equal, as they used a diagram and also because we made our poster a bit more interactive( with the jigsaw) and they only had one item with this characteristic.

In the second round we were with the Spiky Teachers whose stars were Sara and Clara.

  • What did we like the most?: We loved the idea of this giant screen and the moment when Clara was talking and Sara was pointed at the screen what she mentioned.
  • Advise:It could be a great idea to put the general concept (TPACK) in the center and stand out the main components of it.
  • In order to mention some differences, we did not have this size for our poster and neither the idea of projecting the screen. In their case, they did not put examples and why is usefull TPACK for our degree in the poster.
The third one was Starfish with Alejandra and Celia. At the beginning we did not understand very well the poster but after the explanation we were impressed.

  • What did we like the most?: The format of the poster was lovely and also, when they were explaining it was very easy to follow them as its exposition was very clear and organized.
  • Advise: It is clear that it was because of the situation, but they should try to present themselves at the beginning.
  • What about differences?  In our group, we have a different type of poster, but it is true that in our work we did not include our personal opinion. In their case, they did not include in the poster the context and why it is usefull for our degree.
The fourth one was Ladies and Gentlemen with Mitchy and Samuel.
  • What did we like the most?: One of the stars, had lots of loquacity and also they were clear, brief and concise.
  • Advise: To stablish a better connection between the items and, for one of the Stars, we recommended him not to do other things while he would be talking as it distract the listeners.
  • What about differences?: They did not include examples with illustrations and also, they wrote too much and small in the poster.

Awrrrr!!!!! The Wildcats arrived with Patricia and Javi.
  • What did we like the most?: It was lovely the interest of those stars on us, that is, he was the only one who asked us about our possbile doubts and questions.
  • Advise: Not to be distract when the other person is talking.
  • What about differences?: In our group we didn't express the relationship between the components with a diagram.

Glup, Glup.. Fishers in the river was the sixth one with Julia and Tamara.
  • What did we like the most?: It was really colourfull, enjoyable, easy to understand and creative.
  • Advise: It is necessary a presentation individually at first. In the case of one of the stars, she didn't talk very loud so it was difficult to follow her, also she stammered in some ocassions and interrupted the presentation with spanish words.
  • What about differences?: The neither included the context in the poster.
Spacers 2.0 was the seventh group with Ana and Melania.
  • What did we like the most?: They didn't stammered and the rythm of the speech was really nice.
  • Advise: Link the concepts between them and do not forget the context.
  • What about differences?: They have included a great historical foundation, so for this reason they justified the lack of a closed cycle.

The last but not least was Flower Power with Veronica and Aintzane.
  • What did we like the most?: We loved their poster and their amazing idea of giving us a detail, a super flower!
  • Advise: The individual presentation, only.
  • What about differences?: We did not include in the poster specific examples of why TPACK can be usefull in our degree but we mentioned orally.
To conclude, I only wanted to say that we were very impressed with the creativity we saw in the posters and how it can be expressed in many, many different ways.
Congratulations for all of the Stars of this second week, you couldn't have done it better.
